Wk 7 - Sign Letter - P3 Forest Adventure (Submit on Next Tue, 1 Nov)

Dear Parents,


Sign Letter - P3 Forest Adventure (Next Fri, 4 Nov) (Submit on Next Tue, 1 Nov)
A consent form regarding the above has been distributed to our children today. As the Forest Adventure activity conducted for our class in June was affected by heavy rain, our class children did not get to do the rope obstacle course activity. The school has organised a make-up session for our children, which will fall on Next Friday, 4th Nov. I would like to seek your help to sign the consent form and safety rules indemnity form, and allow your child to submit to me on Next Tuesday, 1 Nov.

Reporting Time: 7.30 a.m. in school (As per usual)
Dismissal Time: 12.45 p.m. from school (As per usual)
Attire: PE shirt with track pants/pants at least of knee-length
Things to bring: Small bag with water bottle, cap, umbrella, medication (if any)
*1 meal will be provided.

Wk 7 - English SA2 Exam Paper

A gentle note that our children have received their English exam papers and seen their marks today. We have started going through the paper and the children have started on their corrections. The papers are collected back and our children may only bring the paper home next week.

Our children have received their English Listening Comprehension and Oral results today.

The breakdown of English SA2 marks is as of follows: 
1) Writing:  ____ / 20

Total:         ____ / 100

Our children have been reminded to put in their best effort for the remaining 2 papers, Maths and Science, and check their work at least 2 times after they complete their papers. All the best to our children!

Sorry for this late notice. Today's English remedial has been cancelled so as to allow our children to revise for other subject exams this week. They do not need to stay back today. Our children have been told to make a call to inform you. I would like to seek your help to make necessary transport arrangements if you are picking up your child.

Homework During PSLE Marking Days (Submit on Next Friday, 21 Oct)

The homework is as of follows:
1) English SA2 Practice Paper 2013
2) Doodle and Jot: 2 Quick Write entries 
    - My Home
    - My Neighbourhood
3) McOnline Grammar Practices: Pick grammar exercises (for e.g. punctuation, subject verb agreement, tense and more) and do
4) (Optional) RWJ: Visual Vocabulary (Word - Fire)

File English Worksheets into Purple English File
Our children have received their English Files on Wednesday. They have been told to file in their English worksheets, if any in their homework file, into this English file which is to be kept at home for the rest of this year for revision. For the upcoming English worksheets which our children will be receiving, we will be going through the worksheets in the classroom and our children will bring them home to file into this file for revision. Our children may also keep their MLEA (red jotter book) at home for revision. 


Take good care, have enough rest while preparing for your examinations. Stay safe and healthy. I will see all of our children when you are back in school on Next Friday!

Wk 5 - Home-Based Learning (Next Mon-Thur, 17-20 Oct)

Dear Parents,


Home-Based Learning (Next Mon-Thur, 17-20 Oct) - Sign Consent Form
As it will be PSLE Marking next week, there will be no school from Next Monday to Thursday, 17 to 20 October. Our children need not come to school. They have been each given a consent form today stating the homework to be done on each of these 4 days. I would like your help to go through this form, sign and allow our child to bring it back to school tomorrow.

There will be both McOnline and revision papers homework. If your child has difficulty accessing McOnline, you may call our General Office or bring your child to school at the allocated time slots next week for them to use our computer in school.

Prepare for Listening Comprehension (This Wed, 12th Oct)
In preparation for this Wednesday’s Listening Comprehension, our children are doing 2 listening comprehension practices in class. They have received the first practice today. I would like to have your help to sign and allow your child to bring it back tomorrow. They will receive the second practice tomorrow and I would like to have your help to go through it too. 

You may like to go through the mistakes with your child to reinforce in them the points to look out for. Many of our children have the common mistakes as follows. A general reminder has been given in the class. It would be helpful for your child if you could go through the following with him/her today again to reinforce them. 
Dictation
Not listening attentively to the words read
- Missing word 
- Missing punctuation marks
- Missing "s" for plural words

Happy Children's Day!

Dear Children,



Happy Children's Day to all of you! Hope you have had a good celebration today with our class party and movie screening. A special thank you to parents who also prepared some food for our children :)

Our children have received the above writing. To help them prepare for Next Monday's Writing exam, they have been told to:
1) Do corrected writing on a new foolscap paper
2) Show to you for signature
It would be great if you could give our children some encouragement and guiding comments too on their writing.

Self-Revise Writing: Receiving a Gift
Today, our children have each received another supplementary writing practice on "Receiving a Gift". Our children may use this as a practice paper at home. If they like, they could submit in to me after their writing exam on Monday.

Wk 4 - SA2 Writing Practice Paper (for Writing Exam on Next Mon) and Children's Day Celebration (Thur, 6 Oct)

Dear Parents and Pupils,


SA2 Writing Practice Paper (for Writing Exam on Next Mon)
As a preparation for our SA2 Writing Paper, our children have been given a Writing Practice today, titled "A Birthday Celebration Gone Wrong". To allow time for our children to do a good writing piece, they are given more time and may submit either on This Thursday or Next Monday. 

Thank you parents for encouraging your child to use the following vocabulary and grammar items in the previous writing on "There's a _________ _________!". There is a noteworthy improvement in the writing pieces. Hopefully this practice has helped in preparing our children for their upcoming SA2 writing exam. 

Likewise, for today's writing practice, our children have been briefed again to apply them. You may like to revise the following points with your child again and reinforce in them to use them in today's writing: 
1) Direct speeches
2) Use of punctuation marks (E.g. exclamation mark to express strong feelings)
3) Similes 
4) Adjectives
5) Feelings phrases (Happiness, Disappointment, Anxiety)
6) Saying verbs to replace the use of "said" (E.g. exclaimed, wondered, muttered, etc.)

Learn Spelling (Spelling Tomorrow)
Gentle reminder for pupils to:
- Learn Spelling (Spelling List 2)
- Do spelling and dictation corrections and have your spelling book signed

Children's Day Celebration (This Thur, 6 Oct)
We will be celebrating Children's Day on this Thursday. The theme for this year's celebration is "Movies". Details are as of follows:
- Reporting, Dismissal Time: As per usual
- Attire: Costume/Clothes matching any movie character
*Your child may also choose to wear a pair of shoes to match the movie character's costume. If not, school shoes are to be worn
- Things to bring: Small bag, Storybook, pencil case, water bottle, wallet
