Wk 2 - Writing: There's a _____ ________! (Submit on Next Mon, 26th Sep)

Dear Parents,

Writing (Submit on Next Mon, 26 Sep)
This week, our children have been taught feelings phrases to express fear. In their homework for this week, they have been told to use some of these phrases to complete a writing on "There's a _________ ___________!". They may refer to the following to help them:
1) Planning Worksheet
2) Worksheet - Phrases of Feelings (Fear)

Our children have also been encouraged to apply grammar and vocabulary items which they have learnt since the start of this year to improve their writing. These should be familiar to them. Some examples are
1) Direct speeches
2) Use of punctuation marks (E.g. exclamation mark to express strong feelings)
3) Similes
4) Adjectives
5) Feelings phrases (Happiness, Disappointment, Anxiety)
6) Saying verbs to replace the use of "said" (E.g. exclaimed, wondered, muttered, etc.)

Through observation, not all our children are showing what they have learnt. It would be great if I could rope in your help to run through the above list with your child and they should know what each of them is. Do encourage them to show in their writing and this would help them improve and prepare for the SA2 Writing Exam too.

Father-Child Bonding Activity
Our children have also received a letter today regarding the above. There will be a Father-Child Bonding Activity on 8th October, Saturday. Do refer to this letter for details on registration, which is a first-come-first-serve basis.

Thank you and have a restful weekend!
